Product Details

President Arthur served just six months as Vice President to James A. Garfield who died in 1881 from wounds inflicted by an assassin’s bullet. The design of this ornament is inspired by the period motifs and rich décor of Arthur’s White House, which will be forever distinguished by the early work of Louis Comfort Tiffany. The North Portico is depicted in the center beneath a bald eagle. The two ovals flanking the center depict the dogwood blossoms that Tiffany used in a large screen of red, white, and blue glass, which stood in the Entrance Hall. The honeysuckle seen in the inner oval frame was adapted from the East Room high Victorian décor.
